Use a tape measure for accurate dimensions. Start by measuring inside the window reveal. Place the tape measure against one side of the reveal. Stretch it across to the opposite side. Record the width.
Next, measure the height. Start at the bottom of the reveal. Extend the tape measure to the top. Note this measurement too.
Repeat for accuracy. Check both width and height measurements twice. This ensures no errors.
